Ring Mountain in the Fog // Erin + Roe

We’ve been wanting to shoot in some San Francisco fog since the moment we moved here and we finally got to with E + Roe! These two were amazing to photograph. We did very little directing and mostly just hung out and made art with them. We thought it was funny to be calling it “making art” until we looked at the images together and realized we totally did that. It was an awesome collaboration. They emailed us a color scheme idea with greys, greens, and yellows and we thought Ring Mountain would be perfect. The fog rolling in made me nervous because we only had sun in the forecast all day and in my head that was going to bring the warmth that would work well with those colors. Boy was I wrong. Fog rules. Roe showed up with a bunch of random items from her mom’s house (bouquet of dried flowers, an old chair, a tall mirror, blankets, an ironing board…) and Jamie and I looked at each other like, how the heck are we going to use these items? We LOVED using what they brought and ended up having so much fun trying different things and watching these two enjoy themselves as we stuck cameras in their faces and made different requests.

Erin and Roe run @brownkids on instagram and share so much of their wisdom and knowledge on there. You should definitely check them out if you’re into minimalism, being vegan, living unapologetically, trying new things, finding and embracing community, living tiny, becoming debt free… or if you just want to see inspiring people who aren’t afraid to go for it in life! They just recently moved into their tiny 140 sq. foot home, so they’re bringing their whole instagram family along for the ride of becoming more minimal and getting the space ready for living. We caught these two for this session the night before they moved across the country to Maryland (where I grew up!), and we felt super lucky to have had an evening with them before their next adventures. Thanks for the amazing shoot, E and Roe! Let us know if you ever want to make art together again sometime. 🙂
